FOREWORD.

It began with a spark.

 

A spark of light, kindled by the much-needed escapism art affords us and the curiosity of the different lenses through which the world is viewed. 

 

As a team of anthologists passionate to preserve this spark, we settled on the theme of Refract. Just as light reveals itself to be a myriad of colours in a prism, every one of us is unique. Every individual’s identity shines in countless ways, refracting in countless angles. We sought to capture this authenticity in each work we have curated. 

 

So many of our schoolmates are creators in their own right, yet so many of them have never had an avenue to share their works. We hoped that through the process of curating this anthology, we could create a space in RGS where ideas could be shared without judgment or ridicule, where late-night scribbles could be moulded into heartfelt pieces, and most importantly—where creatives could feel a sense of community. 

 

Our wish is that the cumulation of our many late night calls, reviewing sessions with Ms Picca, and countless emails—the anthology you now behold—will grant you the space and time to reflect, on your identity and the curious ways we all interact with life. It may startle you to find a mirror or a stark distortion of yourself within these works, but enjoy, dear reader!
